The performance invites you to cheer on Miss Lithuania as she goes through the stages of the Miss World contest: Traditional Dances, Beauty with a Purpose, Interview, Performing Talent, Bikini Contest. At first glance she is an idealistic girl, armed with national pride and conviction. But isn’t her authenticity a product of pop culture? Isn’t she there to win attention, to arouse suitable and marketed emotion? As the contest proceeds, Miss Lithuania becomes entangled between her conditioned desire to represent her country, and to be a role model, and her nstinctive quest for liberation from conformity. This leads to a series of transformations: from virgin into openly sexual video clip dancer, from role model into primitive warrior and from patriot into some kind of absurd leader.

As one takes power, Miss Lithuania speaks up to exhaustion, until the words are no longer able and the body alone can complete and end the act that looks like a sacrifice» – writes Estelle Moulard-Delhaye
